More bang for your buck, Timothy Ferriss style
Life… Timothy Ferris style
Just “discovered” a guy by the name of Timothy Ferriss, and his book “The 4-Hour Work Week” - given that his book is already on the New York best-seller lists, I concede that many have discovered his wisdom before I ;o)

Recommended Hosting Providers
Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is the “streamlining” of web-sites, allowing those sites to be found by internet users; we’d all like the big search engines to send traffic to our sites, as it’s one of the key ways of exposing our sites to the world. However, the location of our Hosting servers plays a significant part in ensuring our sites are exposed to the correct geographical region.

Choosing your Blogging Platform
WordPress.ORG or WordPress.COM
Being big Google fans, and celebrating the way in which Google has enhanced the way we work online, we regret to inform Google that we prefer another blogging platform… [Google, awesome Google, provide a free blogging service at Blogger.com if you'd like to check that out too!] It’s the WordPress blogging platform we use exclusively here at AddIncomeOnline.com.
So you may have come across Wordpress before, likely via one of two popular WordPress related sites. The first, and best where making money online is concerned, is Wordpress.ORG. The second, pipped at the post, being WordPress.COM. Let’s allow the guys at WordPress.COM to highlight some of the differences:
WordPress.Org
“WordPress.org is open source blogging software that is freely available to anyone to download. The software must be downloaded and installed onto a computer. WordPress, being internet software, must be installed on a web server–that’s a computer that is set up to serve web pages over the internet–and your personal computer probably isn’t a web server. So, to make the free WordPress software work, you have to own a web server or rent some space on one…”
This is referred to as “Hosting”, which incurrs a minimal monthly fee. We’ll go on to reccomend some hosts who will allow you to install your WordPress blog on their servers, as not all hosts are compatible with the software. Also, we’ll recommend the hosts with the easiest installation of your new blog - let’s not make things more complicated than they already are ;o)
WordPress.Com
“WordPress.com is different. It’s a web site that provides blogs hosted free of charge. The software on WordPress.com is very similar but not exactly the same software you can download from WordPress.org. It is a multi-user version of WordPress that allows many thousands of blogs to be hosted on a single web server. The free blog hosting does NOT come with the ability to upload plugins or themes. Because any change in the software affects every blog on the system.”
Many of the features available by way of hosting your own WordPress blog are UNAVAILABLE at WordPress.com. Whilst there is talk of making these features available, in a limited way, at WordPress.com, it’s likely that fees charged will be comparable to current Hosting costs; ie. There will be no benefit then, pricing or otherwise, over using the WordPress.Org option ;o)
In summary…?
So, in a nutshell… Would you like a blog to begin to use when making money from home? - Use WordPress. Should you use .ORG or .COM? - We say, use WordPress.Org every time!

“Anyone can play guitar…” - and participate online
Why doesn’t everyone have a blog or site already?
I think, for me, the main reason it took me so long to get a web-site up and running was really just the lack of understanding of how easy it is to accomplish. It always seemed to be so involved, and ‘ability’ driven, putting it firmly out of reach - until I was able to stump up payment for a ‘web-guy’ to do it for me - which I never really did in the end…
And the truth? - Absolute nonsense!!! The truth is, I now know, that there are just so many ways to get ourselves ‘online’, with the minimum of fuss. We can buy & sell, relate socially & network, even publishing our rambling thoughts for the consumption of the masses - and , to a limited degree, we can do all of these things at little or no cost!
Buying and Selling…
If we want to sell something online, we can go to eBay - and we can use the UK site, or the original US site, with practically every English speaking market represented by a ‘local’ eBay site. [NB. I’ll go on to discuss other online trading platforms in additional posts.]
Social Networking…
If we want to interact with friends online, or meet new people, we can go to the social networking sites to hook up with others; Friends Reunited was one of the earliest to have wide exposure, with MySpace, FaceBook and maybe Bebo being the big three of late.
Blogging…
If we want a platform to tell the world what we think, or what frustrates us, or literally anything we like… we can begin to post to a Blog, or an online diary, like ‘Ann Frank’, or even Adrian Mole! [‘Blog’ being short for Web Log, or just plain old ‘diary’.]
Blogger.com is owned by Google, making your very own blog instantly accessible - a good choice for the first time blogger.
Wordpress.com provides access to the awesome Wordpress blogging platform. This option is far more adaptable and extensive than Blogger.com, though getting the very best of the Wordpress platform involves hosting your own blog at your own address - as opposed to using the ‘microwave meal’ version at Wordpress.com. [I'll post a video of how to sign up to the more extensive option in the next couple of days.]
The last, and possibly the most indepth option, is the TypePad blogging platform. Well worth a look at the 14 day free trial.
What’s Your Excuse?…
So, it’s not that we need to have a degree in computer programing to have a presence online, or even to actively and positively participate in the online community. We can find many simple solutions already in place for ‘newbies’ with no experience.
So what’s your excuse? - Stay tuned to find out how to get established online, or comment below with your request for specific info.
