Life… Timothy Ferris style

Just “discovered” a guy by the name of Timothy Ferriss, and his book “The 4-Hour Work Week” - given that his book is already on the New York best-seller lists, I concede that many have discovered his wisdom before I ;o)

From what I’ve picked up in the first couple of chapters, he talks alot of outsourcing our own lives, in the same way that huge corporations outsource different aspects of their business tasks. For example, when I ring my mobile/cell phone company, I’m generally greeted by call-centre staff in India. Or when I was ordering my Dell machine back in the day, I was chatting with Dubliners… No doubt because the Irish have such a great accent ;o) Though I’m confident that the Mumbai option is primarily tied to “the bottom line”.

Personal Outsourcing Strategies

One of the personal outsourcing strategies from “The 4-Hour Work Week” is that Timothy has his physical mail delivered, not to his home address, but to an outsourcing fulfillment company. They throw away the junk mail, scan the important mail, and e-mail him direct. Awesome, receive your physical mail anywhere in the world.

Journalists / Bloggers with articles / posts to compose? Pay your virtual assistant, based in Mumbai etc, $5 per hour to research any given topic and email the results to you. Put your feet up whilst outsourcing the research element of your day, and write the post based on the informative research. Lose an hours wages, gain ?? hours of your life back [I'll leave you to work that out based on your own hourly rate].

I have high hopes for this book. I’ll post again with golden nuggets of Wisdom, Timothy Ferris style…
